Hi!!
How is it there? Here cold, sunny and full of Christmas! I nearly survived the madness around Black Friday, because nobody told me it’s a whole weekend. There is a beautiful Christmas tree in the city center, because he comes from Norway. Aberdeen is the twin town from Stavanger and they donated the tree. And last night was an interesting night, with a parade and a lot of Santa’s on Vespa’s. The whole Union Street is decorated with huge Christmas lights.
The students from my project worked hard last week. They choose an organization for their community project and began with preparing a coffee morning as a fundraising. This is meant to develop their skills, use the talents of each other and preparing a project. Some of the students find it difficult to organize something, what will be in a couple of weeks and not immediately.
I went to Banchory, for a lovely walk to the Crathes Castle. The nature was roughly, with a couple of swamps. The weather was beautiful, not as cold as Sunday. Crathes Castle is from the 16th century and surrounded with beautiful gardens. They were closed, because it’s not really the season for flowers. But when you are in the neighborhood during the spring or summer, it’s worth visiting!
Friday were Janine (student from Germany and also for a placement here) and me in the Family Resource Center from Inverurie. It’s an organization for child protection. They handle this different then in The Netherlands, so it was really informative. They are working on a way to prevent problems like neglect, malnutrition and violence in families. If you want to hear more about this, let me know! Then I will try to find a way to explain it in an understandable way ;).
Today it’s St Andrews Day and I’ll celebrate it with Haggis and the movie Braveheart!

Sounds like fun! At home the weather isnt much beter with lots of wind and rain. Not that cold though. Lrt me know hoe the Haggis is like! -

Hoi Astrid,
Weer interessant wat je hebt meegemaakt. Al die verschillende instanties die je bezoekt daar pik je weer iets van op. Hier is alles volop in Sinterklaasstemming, en kerst gluurt al om de hoek. Je eerste maand zit er op. Ik geniet van je blogs en kijk alweer uit naar de volgende.
